The work considers and is the result of mindset, perception of time and the notion of life’s chapters. Thus it begs some big questions: Am I ramping up or have I arrived? Is this perceived and invented “between state”, or intermezzo, actually an amazing and important chapter unto itself? Russell created this new work in an act of returning to artistic rhythm: finding a groove, feeling confident and trusting. It’s true to her joyous tone, while experimenting and playing with composition and palette. Intermezzo Flow was presented alongside a selection of Russell’s works from the last few years, offering a perspective on the artist’s evolving practice.
